What troubles your heart and life today? Is it poverty, pain in relationship, your finances, work undone, wrong decision, etc?Jesus in our gospel today tells us, "do not let your hearts be troubled; you believe in god, believe also in me."
If we look deeply into our human experiences, we discover that there are a lot of uncertainties in this world which often impels us to doubt the power of God in our life. These uncertainties might be our blur vision of God's hand working in our life etched through various imperfections, poverty, injustices, infidelities, inequalities and Dis-eases we experience everyday. Sadly, we often see these worse realities as ends in themselves as if they are the center of our existence. And so we loose sight of what lies beyond the various troubles in life. Then we begin to live in despair. We begin to belong into hopelessness, and eventually we loose grip of our faith. We start to denounce God in our life. We start to blame God and turn our backs on him.
I believe this is our human weakness. When we feel we are abandoned by God because of our sad experiences and misfortunes, we give up everything we knew about Him and loved about him. But with our human weakness, God's strength reveals more powerful.
so let us be reminded once again of Jesus' consoling assurance to all of us - Jesus is our way, the answer to our quest for truth and meaning in life. For beyond the deaths and trials in life, sickness and human frailties, there awaits life and salvation. He will never abandon us for He is the Emmanuel, God with us.
"Do not let your hearts be troubled!" If you are experiencing some troubles in your heart and life today, I invite you to offer them all to the lord. He is the way that will ease your pains, he is the truth that will fulfill your infinite quest for purpose and meaning, he is the life that will grant you life in abundance.
Let me say this once again, "Do not let your hearts be troubled!"
